It’s not too late for your charity to change pace

I was recently reminded of the idea that if you want different results, you have to try something new. Einstein is widely credited with the phrase:

‘Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results’.

As a charity, it can be difficult to step outside of the traditional model of what has worked and try something different.

If you are yet to try something new to raise those precious funds for your charity this year, then now is the time to pull out all the stops.

If you want to see your donors give over the last weekend…

Then you need to send reminders that actually work! And we know that sending an emotive text with a pre-filled donation page is that magic bullet.

In fact, we work with some of the most successful charities who choose to send a reminder text right at the end of the year.

Tips on how to make the most of the last few days of giving in June.

You have done everything you possibly can to setup your charity for success this June. Your direct mail packs have been sent, your last emails are locked and loaded, is there anything else you can be doing to invite your donors to support your charity?

We have a few tips on how to go the extra mile and remind your donors to give. And let’s be honest, it all revolves around making giving on mobile as easy as possible.

This year in particular is crucial to have a weekend strategy in place, as the end of financial year falls over Saturday and Sunday.

Remember at this time of year, you want your donors to find how to donate as easily as possible, so there are a few simple things you can do:

1. Highjack your website home page!

Just for these last two weeks! Make sure you have a donation banner on your website.

As soon as people visit your site, make the journey as simple as possible to make a donation. So update your home page with your current appeal.

2. Make your website mobile friendly

It turns out that Australians are now more comfortable with buying on a mobile phone.

According to Australia Post, purchases from mobile devices is growing by 58% each year. By contrast, transactions from desktops and laptops fell 11%. .

We know that most people will be visiting your site from their smartphones, so make it a smooth experience.

3. Less is more

Right now, you don’t need to collect too much data from your donors. Just keep your donation page as simple as possible.

Especially on mobile, remove those extra fields, like date of birth and be sure that donors don’t have to use captcha to verify their donation. This is a killer for any donation strategy!

4. Make your social pages easy to give

For those last few days create a sense of urgency on your social posts. Pin your donation links to your feeds.

5. Send an SMS on Friday 28th June

We know there are two key days to remind your donors, the first is on Friday 28th June. The other is Sunday 30th June.

If you haven’t set up for mobile giving over the weekend, you will miss out. We can help you to set up for success.
